Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Here at the St. Charles Guest House we have much to be thankful for as we look towards the New Year ---
We hope to complete our capital improvements. Much like any aging diva, we decided it was high time for a face-lift. Since the summer, we've been tirelessly working at giving the place a fresh look, while trying to preserve our old school charm. In the coming year we hope to complete the updates, and we have plans to add some new special features (such as a work space to give struggling writers some inspiration, and newly decorated Cajun cabins by the pool).
Mardi Gras comes early this year! Rooms are booking up fast, as Mardi Gras day falls on February 9, 2016. Even if you can't make it for actual Fat Tuesday, parades begin rolling down St. Charles Avenue on January 29, 2015. The early weekends of Mardi Gras are a great time to check out the city - you get the experience the excitement of the parades, without all of the crowds. Here are some of our top picks for January:
January 23, 2016: Krewe du Vieux. Krewe du Vieux is one of the earliest parades of the New Orleans Carnival calendar. In the old tradition, it is noted for wild satirical and adult themes, as well as for showcasing some of the best brass and traditional jazz bands in New Orleans. Parades roll through Bywater/French Quarter.
January 30, 2016: Intergallactic Krewe of Chewbacchus.. The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is a Sci-Fi themed Mardi Gras themed parade, as well as a self-described satirical space cult! The krewe has 900 members. This year, Chewbacchus fans rejoice - Chewbacca himself, Peter Mayhew, and Andy Richter from the Conan Obrien Show will be joining the festivities. The parade rolls through the Bywater/French Quarter.
We've already started getting reservations for French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest! The Jazz Fest lineup will be released in January. Guests from all over the world (from as far as Australia) have already reserved their rooms, so be sure to call us so you don't miss out!
As we look forward to the Holiday Season and New Year, we are also so thankful for you, our guests. We know you all have so many choices for your stays in New Orleans, and we truly appreciate you choosing to stay with us - many of you have stayed with us so long that you have become part of our family. Thanks to all of you, our hearts are always full. We wish you and your families a very Happy Holiday season, and a joyful New Year.
